My name is Cheryl. Being incarcerated has given me the opportunity to
reflect on my life, my past and the mistake of marrying the wrong man. I
was given a 20- year plea deal and was afraid to take this case to trial. I am
now in my 12th year of incarceration. I inadvertently accepted responsibility for a plea deal 18:1951
racketeering, violence 18:1951, Attempted Hobbs Act Robbery 18:922 (A) (6) 924(A0(2) which was in the
3559 PLRA Sentence total 240 months.
I have benefited and used my time learning more of the justice system. I have taken courses to better
myself and learn who I am as a black woman and ex- military. My family has been and continue to support
me with love and encouragement, during this incarceration, I have lost a sister and my dear mother and
have 6 sisters waiting for me to return to them. My daughter is a very loving woman and desperately
needs me home. I love my family, God, and life.
I have taken all ACE, Psychology Classes and RPP classes as well as Carpentry. I have enjoyed the many
bible study courses offered by Captain Boyd and Captain Campbell at this facility.
My medical conditions consist of sleep apnea, where I sleep with c-pap machine, high blood pressure and
both knees need replaced.
I would like to help women involved in domestic violence, helping to adapt in secure, meaningful
relationships, which each woman deserves. I would also like to become self- employed by repairing homes
for the elderly and building homes for single mothers.
My future does not include returning to Tennessee, where this crime took place. My family will do all they
can to help me restart my life over, having a new start in a new place. I deserve a second chance and I pray
you have the compassion to give me one.
